False prophets and false teachers

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the Lord. They continually say to those who despise Me, ‘The Lord has said, “You shall have peace” ’; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, ‘No evil shall come upon you.’ ” Jeremiah 23:16-17

The church today is full of prophets and teachers proclaiming “peace” to a sinful and corrupt people. Our pastors and teachers look the other way from sin and worldliness, choosing instead a gospel of personal development, happiness and prosperity. We continue to allow those who call themselves by the name of Christ to practice covetousness at the expense of the poor, sinfulness at the expense of the fruit of the Spirit, and self-help while the world crumbles around us.

When will it end? When will we wake up and become the salt and light we were called to be? When will we forsake our own entertainment, get on our faces and bear the power of the Holy Spirit to a broken world?

It begins now…and it begins with me. I will no longer look the other way, I will no longer bear with those who teach a false gospel. I will no longer cower in fear of bearing the label of “radical” or “nutcase”. I will no longer let the corrupt status quo call the shots for me, while I fear their rejection and scorn. I will no longer be satisfied in the camp when Christ is outside the camp. Come what may, I will no longer do it.

Is anyone with me?
